Did Hadrian's Wall Start Out as Something More Defensive?
There seems to be a very high level of violence, of warfare happening in northern britain. And so that may have been the impetus for building hadrian's wall. The other possibilities in building the wall, it triggered even more warfare. But over the 300 years of its life, you know, the wall wouldn't have been in a constant state of war and evolved. There are changes. Some of the turrets, some of the towers, which were excellent observation platforms, watch towers, they're demolished. Uow, they're gtting rid of watch towers at least not along the whole length of the wall.
