Meredith argues that having generative AI out in the world now is less about you and me getting to do cool things with chat GPT and more about big companies bottom lines. It costs billions of dollars to create and maintain these systems head to tail, she says. And there isn't a business model for making chat GPT available for everyone equally, right? Chat GPT is an advertisement for Microsoft. Like the military, like others who might want to actually license this technology via Microsoft's cloud services.
