Did We Really Come Close to a Public Uprising?
How close did we come to real a public orter, perhaps proto revolutionary incidents during the blit? My own view is that we didn't come particularly close to that. I mean, i think a lot of people were disgruntled, and there's no doubt about it when the east end was being very heavily hit. But i think we fell far short of what some people feared, which it was going to actually cause a schism in society. That always was a fear,. But i think in practice, we were quite a long way from that.
