The Role of Race in Policing in Ferguson

Ferguson was a really profound experience for me because I had been investigating a lot of agencies where they actually had legitimate challenges with public safety. When we got to Ferguson, it became very quickly apparent that they were using policing for something that had very little to do with publicsafety. It had a lot to do with the collection of revenue and supporting the city's budget on the backs of poor people and mostly black people. And also they were using police to enforce a racialized social order.
