In 1920, a British biochemist named Jack Drummond suggested dropping the silent E from the end of vitamin. So now we call them vitamins, not vitamins, because they don't all contain amine groups. Cobolimin does not contain an amine group, which is why it would be technically incorrect to pronounce it cobolimin, as if it has a silent E on the end.
