The Problem With Visions From God
There were many restrictions on what kind of books could be written that were validated by the church. There was a sort of anxiety that it might become too widespread and too many people might be making claims that weren't true. This was often down to sort of things like status and who was on your side so Catherine of Sienna was quite a powerful woman in Italy anyway. She had lots of supporters sort of loaded within the church so it was easier for her to get sanctification. Marjorie Kemp who's a mystic from England who sort of wrote a book of her life in the 1430s had a much harder time of it. Most of her book which recounts her religious life is about
