How Did You Discover Bombay?
Historian Pat Fuller says she was drawn to the story when she worked at National Geographic magazine 20 years ago. She spent a lot of time in East Africa researching her new book, which will be published next year. "It's not nearly as difficult or dangerous as Burton speaks and Bombay's expeditions," but there were some close calls with crocodiles on Lake Tankinika during one research trip.
