The Importance of Trend Following in Commodities Trading
Commodities corporation paid Hostetter the tribute of computerizing the history of some of his old accounts to examine how he'd built a position as prices shifted. The challenge was to make his methods reproducible for others who didn't have his flair or caliber. At Hostetter's urging, Weimar assigned Van Dersson to set up a technical system known as trend following. An investor has to get in or out of the commodity every time the price reverses so that he's constantly whipsawed by small losses.
