The Cold War ended in 1991 with the collapse of the Soviet Union. It's probably longer than the age of many of the listeners. There were very significant events in the Cold War itself, which still has a hangover or is still felt today. You could also argue, and some have, that we are now in a second Cold War with the Russians today.
