A parliamentary committee set up in belgium questioned this and challenged it. They said that, as far as they could see, the c i a had played a much larger role than this senate committee of investigation had decided in 19 75. And i have found evidence in recently released documentation that this certainly is the case. The us can be seen to have been much more closely involved in the series of events that led to lumumbe's assassination in january 19 61.
