Gnosticism is similar that history doesn't necessarily repeat, but it does rhyme. And you see this in different ways when you're like in the ascetic movement or like despise the poverty gospel. The church as a whole body ought to be pursuing a maximalist form of theological inquiry because we ought to be interested in God in the world that he's made.
