The Death of Inkidu
Inkidu died peacefully, with Gilgamesh by his side one morning. He was sad he would die in his bed, and not facing some great beast in battle. Inkidu could see the darkness of the plane, and the sky stretching off into the interminable distance. It had large bird wings, the feet of the lion, and the talons of a bird for its front legs. Even before Inkidu thought to run, it had him, the talons digging into his arms. Soon, they were no longer arms, but wings. Feathers began to sprout painfully from them, and then, from the rest of his body.
