We don't actually know how these neurons are getting activated by allergens. There's so many different allergens, it's hard to imagine there's one specialty protein coupled receptor for everything. So we're still trying to figure out how this actually is sensed. But we know that they get activated. We know that they depolarize and cause the sensation of itch which makes the mouse scratch. The more type 2 bowel disease, at least potential type 2 bowel diseases may end up being more irritable bowel syndrome.
