The prosecutor's story at the time was that Missy just got in her way somehow and she killed her. The very prosecutor that took her to trial didn't even believe his own story, but the jury bought it. But shortly after the trial, the defense finds out that the jury had done some investigating of their own,. which totally is not allowed, right? Right. So because of this violation, Alice got granted a new trial. And the second one is a lot different. It's 1971 now, though it's not that much later in time. People from the trial have died.
