Faisal Alistrabadi was one of the main drafters of the transitional law in Baghdad at that point. He came to me and said, well, you can't have a right of privacy in your constitution because the next thing you'll know is some court will find a right of abortion. The ideas that streamed in from liberal policymakers in London and Washington were exposed just as brutally. I had colleagues who were trying to organize gay pride parades through the streets of Basra.
