In nature, animals are trying to protect their genes. One way of insuring that your genes get passed on is to just have as many offspring as possible. Most individual wild animals are either not living flourishing lives at tta at the very best or they are not living lives that are worth living at all. If you think now individual and individual sentient animals are morally significant, this state of affairs should be something that really, really disturbs you. And i's thatt thought should prompt you to wonder whether there's anything we could do about it.
