The Forces Programme Was a Big Break for the B B C
The forces programme was designed to be ideal listening for troops stationed in the field. It had to be something that was suitable for background listening, and couldn't be too heavy. People from the b b c visited the troops and tried to work out what it is that they wanted. And they wanted music, and they wanted comedy - but not too much of it.
