The World Cup in 1934, Benito Mussolini's World Cup
Qatar is hosting the World Cup in November and December. CNN's John Defterios looks back at other countries that have played benevolent host to a football tournament. In 1934, Italian dictator Benito Mussolini gave traveling fans 75% of their travel costs. He ran Italy as a dictatorship for years before deciding to join forces with the Nazis in World War II.
