This story literally starts in 19 74, which is the subjective episode too, of things. Story begins with a woman named alice moore who moved to a little town in west virginia. She decided to wage war on these school books. And that's how the school book wars began. A christian evangelist had stayed out of the culture wars for 50 years,. until really, alicemoore came along with a with her realization that these new school books have diversity of thought in them. These weren't just dick and jane books about happy white families. They were books with new, complicated thoughts. But i wanted to find just human stories, tiny, unfolding stories.
