The Dangers of Oversimplifying Motivations in Forced Labor
i think what's really tricky about it is at some point i feel like there's a danger in in just like oversimplifying what people people's motivations are in this work. The labor question is automatically reduced to a sort of victim question if that makes sense yes. I do also think that it does immediately turn them into victims not just of like you know class or or misogyny but also make some victims of like some abstract imperialism right in the korean war. So without knowing more i'm not sure whether or not they had how much agency they actually have it's kind of sobering to think about.
