In 15 29, wolsey was indicted for the crime of premineri, or treason by obedience to foreign ruler. Sir henry now started to look for another plan. He called parliament and they passed a number of measures that limited the power of the church. And he appointed a team of theological experts who argued against papal dispensation. They said union between man and wife of his r was unclean and contrary to law of god. In legal terms, this meant english sovereignty. The scholars examining the case for the divorce backed this up by reaching the conclusion that england was an empire. So in august 15 30, henry asserted that no englishman could be summoned out
