Paul and silas were put in prison for sharing their faith. The religious leaders, the sadducees, didn't like them. They accused them of causing a disturbance. When they hit midnight, when that new day started, suddenly things changed. As they were singing praises, there was a great earthquake,. Prison doors flew open, chains fell off their feet, and they walked out as free men. It's not a coincidence that this all happened at midnight. God had the writer tell us this time because midnight means it was a new day.
