Microservices
The idea of microservices really came out of a number of different smart people that I can't name right now, but it wasn't me. Netflix is probably the biggest example because they have different discrete units of work that it needs to do. It doesn't have the notion of one database that everyone interacts and who habitates with. And through messages, services can talk to each other or front ends can talk to multiple services at once. A lot of the microservices idea here is that it really is a silo.
