St. Therese of Lizzieux had to obtain permission to make regular reception of Holy Communion. St. Pius the 10th at the beginning of the 20th century that you see the present practice start to gain more traction. But as Christians, we're not obliged to always do what is objectively best in every situation because we're not like optimizing or maximizing machines.
