The US's Engagement in the Sahel Military Coup in Niger

Niger has been seen as the stable state in the Sahel that has been the hub of US backed and particularly friendship-backed military intervention. Concern is now, well, are US and French troops going to have to withdraw? Are all of these drone bases and other things maintained by them going to be handed over to the Russians? What happens to Niger's regional role? So it's a very, very messy picture and I'm not sure we have a super clear idea about the right way to resolve it or the factors that go into it.
