The political and social elite of france is wiped out in one battle, principally by ordinary men with long bows. So the wheels of war quickly began to churn again. The english crown continues to tax its subjects as if plague had never happened. As a consequence, the direct taxation per head triples or quadruples between the 13 is in the 13 fifties. If you survive the black death, you are better off many ways, but you've been taxed as well. But that long term consequence only becomes apparent after, after a while.
