The Quantung Army and Japan's Expansion

One of the key flash points in this japanese expansion came in september 19 31 with an event that became known as the muten incident. A group of radicals within the quantung army have decided that now is the time for japanese forces to launch a fullon takeover in that region. And so they plant a bomb on the tracks of the manchurian railway, when it's not. They use as a pretext to launch an offensive, which, within a few short months, results in more or less a full takeover of the region.
