The small city of vosnensensk fought off the russian invasion in early march. The mayor says the ukranians blew it up so that the russians couldn't cross into the heart of the city. Thousands of residents were trapped on the other side of the bridge, which sparked a two day confrontation. Human rights watch has requested comment from the Russian ministry of defence over allegations soldiers committed rape and summary executions. We've not heard back in response.
