If you want to recreate the web with backlinks, then you need a bunch of people running their own servers and a protocol on the back end. I think that taking this sort of more circuitous route actually makes a lot of sense and will end up being a more individual community focused version of the internet than one where every person has their personality abstracted away. It's such a joke to me when people on Twitter are like, oh, like I'm an artist when I post to Twitter, like I’m like a real writer, you know? You can't do that. Like it's just off limits completely.
