The first air fleet of the imperial japanese navy, known as kido butai, or mobile force, was around 250 miles north of awahu in the hawaii archipelago. Kidai contained six carriers, ther over 60 ships, two battleships, three cruisers and destroyers, tankers, 23 submarines and some midget submarines.
