Detection of Hypothyroidism

A receiver operator characteristic is a plot on a graph of sensitivity versus one minus specificity. It's just because expressing it in this way, mathematically, gives us a visual representation of the strength of the diagnostic test. So if we decide that a T4 value of five is our cut point for hypothyroidism, theoretically anything below 5 is going to be hypothyroid. Can you see that as the sensitivity gets bigger, the specificity gets lower? There's often that trade off between the two. Which of those curves do you think is the best diagnostic test?
