People are able to recognize that if they have a family member or friend who disagrees with them on politics, that there's that level of humanity. But it's when it's somebody that you only know from television, that it doesn't feel like a real person anymore. And that's what allows these really toxic beliefs and emotions to just metastasize in so many people.
