Is the British Army Really a Last Resort?
The army was always seen as being the last resort when everything else in civil society seems to have broken down. By february 19 79, people were pretty much back at work. But margaret thatcher did have a very good winter of discontent. The trade union leaders had previously been supportive of moderate labor leaders callahan, now lost faith with them and were more inclined to support the left. So i think it has a very profound long term impact on british politics.
