The History of the Manchu Dynasty

On June 1st, 1644, Dorgan entered Beijing and now the Manchus controlled the Forbidden City. The Chongjun Emperor who had committed suicide was given a respectful and solemn burial amongst his ancestors in the Ming tombs. And together, these joint forces defeated Li Zichung and his ill-fated Shun dynasty. So after Beijing was taken, the young Shuncher Emperor was sent for, he was still up in Manchuria. He became the first Manchu Qing emperor to sit on the emperor's throne in Beijing.
