I think you have to go searching high and wide for examples or moments in the past, which are not familiar. For instance, throughout the nine episodes of this current series, I really don't think, except as a back swipe, we've mentioned Henry VIII or his wives. We deliberately go for something that perhaps a British and even a world audience will not have heard before. That history is infinitely richer than the kind of narrow line that is often put forward because it seems to be the most popular. And then I think that you can use first-hand sources, you can play with them, you can dramatise bits of moment in the past. There's nothing like history for that
