There's not a single German in Germany who doesn't know that making Jewish lives as miserable as possible isn't a very, very powerful priority. They also know that Germany has staked its future on achieving it. So I think there's no question and this will become very important throughout the war and after the war in terms of who knew what. It's very scary how quickly a collective can be mobilised behind an idea. But something that may be impossible to unpick is the genesis of that idea.
