Did the Speech Really Happen?
We've had quite a few questions about a speech that was made by elizabeth the first. We know what she said because her words were jotted down by leicester's chaplain, a man called doctor lionel sharp. And of course, the words were also promulgated afterwards propeganda. She did make this speech on the nineteenth of august 15 88 ate leicester's headquarters at a fort called tilbury on the thames estery. It was pure propaganda. Here she is saying she she had the body but of a weak and feeble woman, but i had the heart and stomach of a king.
