There were revolutions all over europe in 18 forty eight. In germany, the revolution was very violent, and but it was suppressed. And those german revolutionaries had to flee the country. Many of them came to saint louis, cincinnati and milwaukee,. as well as new york city. So they brought their politics with them. It was interesting reading this book, and it felt like someways there were a lot of parallels to day.
