Mediaeval as a Pajoritive?
When somebody uses mediaeval as a slur meaning primitive and savage, how does that make you feel? I just roll my eyes a little bit. It's lazy because it's hackneyed. Anyone who's read george orwell's politics in the english language will bridle at the use of hackneyed phrases and platitudes. And so if you'll go to adjective for something bad and cruel is mediaeval, that's just lazy thinking. The mediaeval world was no less cruel than our own world.
