The monarch was invited to inspect the guard of honour before he was handed the key of edinburgh. He then followed the late queen's coffin up the royal mile towards saint giles's cathedral. Huge crowds watched in silence, mounted police of police scotland providing the sound of horses that would so please the late queen.
