The Importance of IV Contrast in Diagnosis

For most patients, it's not worth doing a CT without IV contrast. If someone has had a mild hypersensitivity reaction in the past, load them up with prednisone and benedryl so you can still give contrast. But obviously there are still some patients you just can't give contrast to. And you're still going to find that primary diagnosis 70 to 90% of the time.
