Look for a brush that has rounded plastic prongs. You want the prongs to be quite flexible so that they are moving with your hair and less likely to cause breakage. Vented cushion face is also a good thing to look for when you're heat styling because it helps the heat to dissipate. What not to use I think is probably just as important. For bristle brushes, reserve them for those days when you want stellar style.
