In the foreword of his two novels, perpetual motion and gentlemen's death, you describe that first meeting. One year after that book signing incident, you meet Graham Kipson, who would later become your husband. Do you want to recount some of those? No. Let's go to page 447. Would you mind reading it? Yes. It's not the first meeting. It's the first time we sat down to talk. The first meeting was at a party that the writers had thrown for this poet called Milton Acorn, who was, as we now know, bipolar.
