The Conflict Between the Religious Scholars and the Political Authority
The Sunne is what I described early, the legacy, oral and otherwise of the prophet Muhammad. And this endeavor to memorize the Hadith in order to define for the Muslim community what their religion is. This had already caused the religious scholars to clash with the political authority,. The caliph al-Mansur actually agreed with mukhafa and tried to draw up such a law code for the empire. But the legal scholars, the men who were in charge of defining the religion for Muslims, they totally rejected this effort. They resisted it. So the scheme failed.
