The Role of Trauma in Addiction
I am a personal believer that I think addiction almost starts before the addiction even happens. What is there stuff that you can pinpoint before you started using drugs and alcohol that were things that maybe would make you more prone to dealing with addiction? For me, around four or five years old, I began being sexually abused and sodomized by someone. It was like basically being raped as a kid. And so then they looked at resilience, right? Like what makes somebody strong? And so part of that is epigenetics, right? Which is kind of the things that we're predisposed to, but that aren't necessarily firing yet,.
