There's no evidence at all that stonehenge was an active religious sight when romans came to britain. The druids were conjured by william stutely in particular, who really made that association and embraced it in his personal life as well as in his writings. There is actually more roman pottery than there is neolithic so we know roman people with that o least - you know.
