"I brought a kitten home to cope," she says of her coping mechanism. "There wasn't anything for my parents like, look, if you ever feel to that point, talk to us, let us know." She and her brother went through family therapy after their mother's suicide but never discussed the issue further. The two were given $200 as an incentive not to go back because they didn't want to see it again.
