Bill Miller: I think that a large part of that has to do with the Hopkins philosophy department. Peter Achtenstein was chairman of the department when I got admitted in 1970 for 1975. Ernie Caney, my initial partner at Lake Mason, died in 2010 at age 92,. He was like probably the most optimistic person in the world. Chip Mason, who's stuck with me when I had an occasional bad, bad year or two and understood underperformance comes to the territory.
