The Pestilence of the Church in the Middle East
During plague outbreak in 13 75, the archbishop of canterbury called for people to pour out unceasing prayers. Chroniclers in damascus record large group prayers which implored god to lift plague from the city. Special matters were created for times of pestilence, alongside prayers to saint sebastian and the virgin mary. We're focusing mainly on european christianity but there are some interesting parallels in islamic societies too.
