The Battle of Yvesham
A new account of the battle of Yvesham shows that Edward and Gilbert de Clare had appointed a death squad to kill Montfort. And then when he was killed, obviously, his body was horribly mutilated. I mean, there is a more comforting sequel in that partly because of the great bitterness and everything, the Yvesham didn't end the war. The war went on for another two years because Henry and Edward decided to confiscate all the estates of the Montfortians. That left a huge group of disinherited who then continued the war for two years until there's a final settlement. By the end of Henry's reign, the political community was coming together again.
